Horombo Hut
Mount Kilimanjaro
Horombo Hut is a village of permanent wooden cabins in the moorland zone of the Marangu route, used on both the way up and the way down Kilimanjaro. It is the main base for acclimatisation days, which makes it a key stop on longer Marangu climbs.
The huts are simple and functional, with shared bunk rooms, solar electricity, shared flush toilets, communal dining rooms and a ranger rescue post. It is built for practicality at altitude rather than comfort, and nights are cold.
As on the rest of the mountain, meals are cooked and served by your trekking crew in the communal dining spaces. Bunk rooms are shared between different climbing groups and cannot be booked privately.
