Kibo Hut
Mount Kilimanjaro
Kibo Hut is a stone barracks at around 4,700 m on the Marangu route, used as the launch point for the midnight summit push on Kilimanjaro. Its position high on the saddle makes it a functional staging post rather than a place to linger.
This is a very basic shelter with bunk platforms, a communal dining space and shared long-drop toilets, and no electricity or running water. Conditions are severe, with sub-zero temperatures inside overnight.
Porters carry up all food and water, and meals are prepared by your trekking crew. It should be understood as a bare mountain refuge before the summit attempt, not as any form of lodge.
