Mti Mkubwa Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro
Mti Mkubwa Camp – ‘Big Tree’ in Swahili – is the first overnight camp on Kilimanjaro’s Lemosho and Northern Circuit routes, deep in the montane forest. It gives western-route climbers a sheltered forest start.
This is a basic tented camp with cleared pitches, park outhouses, a ranger station and a stream. The rainforest setting is humid with regular evening rain, and comfort depends on your operator’s tents and gear.
Climbers sleep in tents and the trekking crew prepares all meals and runs the camp. It is a simple wilderness stop, not a lodge.
