Buffalo Camp

Buffalo Camp – sometimes recorded as Simba Net Camp – sits at about 4,010 metres on the remote northern slopes of Kilimanjaro. It is a key overnight stop on the Northern Circuit, and looks out over the international border toward Kenya’s Amboseli ecosystem. Far from the crowds of the southern trails, the camp gives an unusual sense of space and quiet.

This is a basic public campsite, not a lodge or hut. Sleeping is in expedition tents pitched by the crew on marked pitches, with shared pit latrines the only facility; there is no restaurant, running water, electricity, Wi-Fi or private bathroom. The setting is open and remote, so wind and cold are constant and warmth depends on your gear.

All meals, tents, water and camp setup are prepared and carried by your trekking crew rather than provided on site. The area is remote and patrolled, and this stretch of the circuit is chosen for its gradual, acclimatisation-friendly profile. Expect cold nights, thin air and long views, and pace yourself as your guide advises.
