Karanga Valley Camp

Karanga Camp sits in a steep valley on Kilimanjaro’s Southern Circuit, used on the Machame and Lemosho routes, mainly as an acclimatisation stop. Its position helps break the climb to the summit base camp.

This is a simple tented camp with designated pitches, long-drop toilets and a stream that is the last water source before the upper slopes. There are no built facilities beyond basic pit toilets.

Tents and all meals are carried, set up and prepared by the trekking crew. It should be treated as a basic, logistically important wilderness stop.
