The Perfect Two Weeks in Tanzania: Climb Kilimanjaro, Safari and Zanzibar

July 16, 2026

If you have two weeks and want the trip of a lifetime, Tanzania delivers three world-class adventures in one country: the roof of Africa, the greatest wildlife show on earth, and a spice-island beach. Here is how we bring them together into one seamless, tailor-made journey.

Days 1 to 7: Climb Kilimanjaro

Start with the mountain, while your legs and enthusiasm are fresh. A 7-day route such as Lemosho or Machame gives your body time to acclimatise and your best chance of reaching Uhuru Peak. You will trek from rainforest to glacier, summit under the stars, and descend with the biggest sense of achievement of your life.

Days 8 to 11: Safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro

After a rest night in Arusha, swap boots for binoculars. A private 4×4 safari takes you into Tarangire, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater in search of the Big Five and, in season, the Great Migration. Evenings are spent at comfortable camps and lodges under enormous starlit skies.

Days 12 to 14: Unwind on Zanzibar

A short flight carries you from the plains to the Indian Ocean. Zanzibar is the perfect finale: powder-white sand, warm turquoise water, historic Stone Town and spice-scented air. After a climb and a safari, doing nothing at all has never felt so good.

Why this order works

Climbing first means you tackle the hardest challenge while you are freshest, and it doubles as superb pre-safari acclimatisation to the altitude of the crater highlands. Ending on the beach gives your body and mind time to recover before the flight home. It is the natural rhythm of a great Tanzania trip: earn the summit, roam the plains, then rest by the sea.

Practical tips

  • Best months: January to March and June to October offer the best weather for both climbing and safari.
  • Fitness: the climb is non-technical but demands good general fitness and some training.
  • Flights: Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar are linked by quick domestic flights, which we arrange for you.
  • One team: we handle the whole journey end to end, so there is one point of contact and no gaps between each stage.

This is the trip we were made for. See our Tanzania journeys or tell us your dates and we will craft your perfect two weeks.
