Ndutu Calving Camp

Ndutu Calving Camp is a seasonal safari camp in the Ndutu region, straddling the border between the southern Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is set up during the calving months to intercept the annual wildebeest migration, and sits among ancient acacia woodland and open alkaline pans, placing guests close to the massed herds and the predators that follow them.

The tents are large, heavy-duty canvas structures built on reinforced wooden foundations to handle the seasonal winds. Interiors use traditional Tanzanian wooden furniture, comfortable double or king beds, overhead solar lighting and a writing desk. Each tent has a private en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet, a vanity sink and a pressurised hot-water shower.

The main tent serves as an open-sided lounge and dining room where freshly prepared international and Swahili-inspired dishes are served daily, with central charging points and Wi-Fi in the communal areas. Evenings are usually spent by the central campfire listening for hyena and lion, and Maasai guards provide personal escorts back to the tents after dark.
