Arrow Glacier Camp

Arrow Glacier Camp is a stark, exposed campsite at roughly 4,850 metres, set directly beneath the towering rock face of the Western Breach. It takes its name from the fast-receding Arrow Glacier nearby, and is used almost exclusively by experienced climbers preparing to tackle the steep, technically demanding Western Breach route. The camp sits on raw, rock-strewn ground right at the edge of Kilimanjaro’s permanent ice fields.

This is a basic public campsite with no rooms, restaurant, tap water, electricity, Wi-Fi or private bathroom. Sleeping is in expedition tents pitched by the crew among the scree, with shared pit latrines the only facility. The site is highly exposed to freezing alpine-desert conditions, so warmth depends entirely on strong tents and sleeping gear.

All meals, tents, water and camp setup are prepared and carried by your trekking crew, not by the campsite. The Western Breach is a serious, higher-risk route, so this camp suits fit, well-acclimatised climbers with an experienced support team and rescue access. Expect severe cold, thin air and an early, demanding start toward the summit crater.
