Barranco Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro
Barranco Camp lies in a dramatic valley beneath the Barranco Wall on Kilimanjaro, where the Machame, Lemosho and Umbwe routes meet. It is one of the mountain’s most scenic camps and a natural rest point before the wall.
It is a basic wilderness camp with cleared pitches, long-drop toilets, a ranger shelter and a meltwater stream. Tucked in a valley, it loses the sun early and cools quickly, so warm gear from your operator matters.
Climbers sleep in tents and the trekking crew handles all cooking and camp support. It is a functional mountain camp rather than any kind of lodge.
