Upon your arrival in Livingstone town, prepare to be captivated by the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. We begin your adventure with a comprehensive tour of this natural wonder from the Zambian side, providing you with a truly immersive and unforgettable introduction to the majesty of the falls.
You’ll go on a morning game drive through the renowned Chobe National Park, where the wild beauty of Africa unfolds before your eyes. Accompanied by our experienced guides, you will witness the diverse landscapes and extraordinary wildlife species that call this park home. From herds of elephants bathing in the river to stealthy predators prowling through the grasslands, each moment offers something special for new and seasoned safari travelers. Later on, you will board a sunset game cruise on the lovely and scenic Chobe River.
With a full-day game viewing expedition in Hwange National Park, complemented by multiple half-day game drives on a private concession, and a visit to the renowned Painted Dogs Conservation Centre, this package offers great options to explore many unique aspects of Hwange National Park. This vast wilderness is home to abundant populations of buffalo, giraffe, zebras and elephants, as well as lions, leopards, and cheetahs and numerous antelope species, including kudu, sable, and roan. With over 400 species of birds, including the majestic African fish eagle, Hwange National Park is a birdwatcher’s haven.

Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo
Upon arrival in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, you will be welcomed by your local Madagascar guide. They will assist you with your transfer to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore or relax.
Day 2: Antananarivo to Andasibe National Park
In the morning, we begin our journey with a drive to Andasibe National Park, traveling through the lush vegetation of eastern Madagascar. This region is known for its primary forests and numerous lakes. Along the way, we pass through villages of the Merina people nestled among the rocky mountains. We arrive at Andasibe in the afternoon and check into the hotel. In the evening, around 19:00, we set off on a night walk from the hotel to observe nocturnal lemurs and other wildlife. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Andasibe National Park
The day starts with a visit to the Special Reserve of Andasibe to see the Indri, the largest lemur species on the island. This 810-hectare reserve is home to a wide variety of orchids, chameleons, tenrecs, and birds. In the afternoon, we visit the V.O.I.I.M.A community reserve, which supports local reforestation projects. Here, you can observe more wildlife, including brown lemurs, chameleons, geckos, and birds. We return to the hotel for another overnight stay.
Day 4: Andasibe to Antsirabe via Antananarivo
After breakfast, we drive back to Antananarivo and then continue south to Antsirabe. The journey takes us across the highlands, with views of beautiful rice fields and eroded hills called “lavaka.” We make a brief stop in Ambatolampy, known as the “capital of aluminum recycling.” We arrive in Antsirabe around 18:00. This elegant city, known as the center of Madagascar’s beer industry, was founded by Norwegians in 1856 and has a distinctly European feel.
Day 5: Antsirabe to Ranomafana via Ambositra
After breakfast, we drive to Ambositra, the center of Madagascar’s wood carving industry. The highland architecture is notable for its brightly colored houses with ornately carved wooden balconies and shutters. Continuing on, we pass through ‘le col de tapia,’ a region dominated by rice fields, pine forests, eucalyptus trees, and rocky mountains. We reach our destination for the day, the Ranomafana National Park, in the afternoon.
Day 6: Ranomafana National Park
Today, we explore the Parc National de Ranomafana, a 40,000-hectare rainforest known for its rich biodiversity. The park is home to lemurs, chameleons, and a variety of other animals. The terrain is characterized by forested hills and numerous small streams that flow into the Namorona River. We spend the day hiking through the park, observing the unique flora and fauna.
Day 7: Ranomafana to Isalo via Fianarantsoa and Ambalavao
We leave Ranomafana and visit a local wine farm near Fianarantsoa for wine tasting (note: visits may not be possible on weekends). We then continue to Ambalavao, where we visit the ‘Anteimoro Paper Factory,’ a legacy of the Arabian civilization on the island. Next, we participate in a community-based silk weaving project. The journey continues through the Andringitra mountain chain, offering views of the ‘3 hillocks,’ ‘archbishop’s cape,’ and the granite dome ‘gate of the south.’ We arrive in Isalo in the late afternoon.
Day 8: Isalo National Park
We spend the day hiking in Isalo National Park, which covers 81,540 hectares of eroded sandstone mountains. A 1.5-hour walk takes us to the Natural Swimming Pool, where we can cool off after the hike. Along the way, we encounter unique vegetation and possibly spot sifakas, brown lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs, and various bird species. We return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 9: Isalo to Ifaty via Tuléar
After breakfast, we continue our journey to Tuléar, passing through dry forests and the spiny desert of the south. Along the way, we admire the Mahafaly and Antandroy tombs. After a brief visit to Tuléar, we drive to Ifaty, located about 27 km away. Ifaty is known for its dry, sandy soil, spiny forest, and Vezo fishing communities. The area is ideal for diving, snorkeling, and birdwatching.
Day 10: Ifaty
Today is a leisure day in Ifaty. You can explore the Reniala Forest to see baobabs, spiny bushes, reptiles, and chameleons, or take a boat trip to see whales (July to mid-September). The area is also ideal for diving and snorkeling, protected by a large coral reef. In the afternoon, visit the village of Mangily to experience the Vezo fishermen’s way of life.
Day 11: Ifaty to Antananarivo
Early in the morning, we transfer to the airport for a flight back to Antananarivo. After check-in at the hotel, the afternoon is free for sightseeing in the capital, also known as the ‘City of Thousands.’ Explore the high city, where the old queen’s palace is situated, the mid-city with its chic boutiques, and the low city, the commercial area. Visit the Rova (queen’s palace), the first minister’s house, and the Rainiharo tombs.
Day 12: Departure from Antananarivo
Today marks the end of your Madagascar adventure. You will be transferred to Antananarivo airport for your onward flight. Safe travels!
